FAQs
What factors influence video editing costs? Two key factors that influence editing costs are length of raw footage and the type of video required. 1. Length of raw footage Depending on the amount of footage provided, it can take hours (sometimes days) to wade through source material to find the most relevant and useful content for an edit. Much like a jigsaw puzzle, each section is carefully lifted and arranged to fit the desired narrative. Clips are rarely used in sequence and irregularities in filming (including retakes) can add considerable time to the post-production process. 2. Type of video Videos can be categorised in different ways and certain types incur different costs – even if the output is of a similar length. Promotional videos are typically more expensive because an editor is required to follow a specific script, branding guidelines, direction or template provided by the video owner. Editing is more aligned with the brand itself and this requires more time and consideration than the average video. Other factors that impact the video editing rates include: • Urgent delivery • The addition of specialised elements (interactivity) • Requirement of post-editing procedures like uploading, rendering or transcoding the video, etc.
